Only those colleges/institutions which could not apply for establishment of new medical colleges or increase in MBBS seats due to the condition of 100 MBBS Seats for 10 lakh population in the States/UTs, may now apply to this Commission online latest by November 26, 2023, said NMC.

National Medical Commission re-examined the provisions of the ratio of 100 MBBS Seats for 10 lakh population in the States stated in a decision vide public notice dated November 15, 2023, and decided that only those colleges/institutions which could not apply for establishment of new medical colleges or increase in MBBS seats due to the condition of 100 MBBS Seats for 10 lakh population in the States/UTs, may now apply to this Commission online latest by November 26, 2023.

"In this regard, it is informed that Undergraduate Medical Education Board,National Medical Commission (NMC) has re-examined the provisions of the ratio of 100 MBBS Seats for 10 lakh population in the States and a decision vide public notice dated 15.11.2023 has been conveyed by it that the “OBJECTIVE” clause under Chapter-1 of "Guidelines for Under Graduate Courses under Establishment of New Medical Institutions, Starting of New Medical Courses, Increase of Seats for Existing Courses & Assessment and Rating Regulations, 2023" (notified by UGMEB on 16th August, 2023) shall be implemented from academic year 2025-26," reads NMC's notification.

MARB determines the appropriate method of assessment and/or inspection, before granting permission to the applicant to establish a medical institution. Provided such methods shall include but not be limited to verification of documents in digital or another form, Adhar based attendance register, verification of live video feed, photographs, Hospital Management Information System data or surprise physical assessment etc.

Only colleges with faculty count having at least 75% attendance for the last three months from the last date of application (i.e. September 19) on AEBAS will be analyzed whether such count is meeting MSR requirments or not and hence will be eligible for the physical inspection, added NMC.
