NMC releases clarification on various issues related to FMGs
Ukraine returned FMFs can continue the study from different countries except for India, said NMC.
The National Medical Commission has issued clarification on various issues related to Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs). The guidelines are for Ukraine and the Philippines returned FMGs.
Guidelines for the FMGs returned from Ukraine:
Those who duly completed medical courses in Foreign Medical Institutes (Course equivalent to MBBS Course in India) in offline mode with or without one year of internship and returned to India are required to obtain Provisional Registration from the concerned State Medical Council and thereafter undergo one-year CRMI as per CRMI Regulation, 2021. Such students are eligible to receive a stipend in parity with Indian Medical Graduates.
FMGs who had a break in their Final year and returned to India (owing to COVID pandemic or war) and completed FMG course (including examination) in online mode only need to undergo one (1) year clinical clerkship (CC) in India in lieu of deficiency in their training from their parent medical college. The Indian Medical College may charge clerkship fees from FMGs a maximum of up to INR 5000/-PM.
FMGs having a break in Penultimate year of study (owing to COVID pandemic or war) and completing FMG courses including examination in online mode only need to undergo two (2) years of clinical clerkship supported by logbook, further authenticated by the concerned college authority.
NMC allowed FMGs returned from Ukraine to continue their study in different countries except India. This option of transfer/migration/mobility shall be availed within 3 months from the date of issue of this public notice, said NMC. Other than these, NMC also clarified many other issues related to FMGs.
