The state government has sped up the redevelopment of SCB Medical College and Hospital, says the report.

As per the reports coming in, the Odisha government has directed the concerned department to speed up the construction work of the SCB Medical College and Hospital and complete the project by December 2023. 

“The project is on schedule and the construction works are expected to be over by the end of next year. The Health Department has been asked to make advance planning for procurement of medical equipment along with patients’ beds and other medical accessories,” said a senior official of the Works department, as reported by Indian Express.

SCB Medical College and Hospital is one of the oldest hospitals in India which was established in the pre-independence era. Currently, it is undergoing redevelopment to be an AIIMS plus institution with 5,000 beds in two phases at an estimated investment of nearly INR 5000 crore.

Odisha government is also constructing teaching hospitals for nine medical colleges apart from the administrative building of Bhawanipatna medical college and PGI and Trauma Care facilities at Capital Hospital.

Chargesheet filed against 7 doctors of SCB Medical College and Hospital

Reportedly, a charge sheet has been filed against seven doctors of SCB Medical College & Hospital, Cuttack for allegedly assaulting a lawyer last year. The Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra has informed the Orissa High Court that the charge sheet is filed on the basis of CCTV footage, as reported by Kalinga TV.
