Odisha medical colleges to reopen soon
The Odisha government has decided to reopen medical colleges in the state for practical/clinical classes and examinations.
The medical colleges in the state providing training in pharmacy, occupational therapy, nursing, physiotherapy, public health and other colleges offering allied medical science courses and paramedical will re-open soon. However, in wake of the ongoing pandemic, the colleges will be open as per strict guidelines of the state government. The theory classes will still be continued online and authorities are allowed to conduct the clinical or practical classes and exams in student groups with 50 per cent capacity.
The colleges need to make provision for screening of students for Covid-19 symptoms. The state government has said that the student must follow the Covid-19 guidelines by wearing masks, maintaining social distances and washing hands frequently.
All students must submit written permission from parents or guardians to attend these classes and students will be divided into a group of fully vaccinated, partially vaccinated and unvaccinated students. The state government also said the colleges must start vaccination drives for college staff and students in coordination with the local health authorities. Moreover, as per the government guidelines, the administrative office will remain open on all working days.
