PGIMER hosts Workshop on Mind Body Intervention through Yoga
An experts’ meeting will follow the workshop on Yoga at the Chandigarh State Guest House on January 9 and 10.
The Yoga Centre of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research Institute (PGIMER) organised a workshop titled "Mind-Body Intervention: Emerging Status" on January 8, 2024. The workshop was for healthcare workers and doctors.
The main highlights were - Yoga Therapy: Evidence & Future Perspective, Palliative Care, Life Style Diseases, De-addiction, Neurobiology of sleep and Consciousness.
The welcome address was given by Prof Akshay Anand, Prof In-Charge, CCRYN-CCMBIY Centre, PGIMER. Dr Akshay Anand, in charge of the yoga centre, mentioned the workshop’s potential to finalise a multinational clinical trial focusing on addiction.
"The integration of yoga into the global healthcare delivery system is based on scientific data in managing various health conditions, including neuro-disorders, lifestyle diseases, and cardiovascular ailments," Dr Pramod Avti professor of Biophysics and member of Yoga Centre and organising secretary of the event said before the workshop, as reported by The Week.
"Yoga practice not only enhances synergy between mind and body but also strengthens a doctor's capacity to cope with burnout and stress. We are interested in developing patient-centric disease-specific yoga protocols," said Dr Vivek Lal, Professor of Neurology and Director of PGIMER.
From today till tomorrow, there will be an expert meeting on the benefits and barriers of Yoga Research.
PGIMER director Dr Vivek Lal expressed his satisfaction with the diverse topics covered in the international workshop, anticipating benefits for doctors and paramedical staff through knowledge updates, as reported by Hindustan Times.
