Resident docs allege RIMS Imphal not allowing them to participate in NEET SS 2022 counselling

The resident doctors of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Imphal have alleged that two doctors who have qualified for NEET SS 2022 and currently serving 1-year compulsory senior residentship bond, of which 6 months period are already completed, are not being allowed to participate in the upcoming NEET SS 2022 counselling.

As per the release by the Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA) of RIMS Imphal, Dr Prisha Nankana and Dr Hajishmon are not being allowed for higher studies which are against the advisory issued by DGHS, GOI dated April 14, 2022.

“RIMS Imphal is not allowing the residents to avail such a precious opportunity of higher studies and thus destroying their future career by stating that they won’t release the original documents (needed for completion of admission process) until the completion of the said 1 year bond period at a continuous stretch and have rejected their plea to serve the remaining 6 month bond period after completion of their DM course,” reads the statement by RDA RIMS Imphal.

Docs planning legal complaint against RIMS Imphal

The residents have mailed the secretary of the health ministry and planning to file a legal complaint against the institute regarding the same. As per them, their legal advisor told them after initial inspection that the bond itself looks invalid and also it is not stated that the bond period should be served at a stretch.

“We are not allowed to even register our MD/MS course in the medical council but we are forced to work as SR without medical registration of degree which is illegal and against the moral code. We are denied our MD/MS degree certificate also and being treated without respect when we approached the authorities in RIMS,” added the notification.
