SC refuses recalculation of NEET-UG 2021 scores due to error in physics question
After dismissing the writ petition demanding cancellation of a physics question in NEET-UG 2021, the Supreme Court has also dismissed a plea seeking recalculation of NEET scores due to that particular physics question.
The top court of the country has recently dismissed a plea demanding the cancellation of a physics question of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2021 due to a translation error. The Centre had informed the Supreme Court that after the question was reviewed by a three-member panel it was found that there is no error in the translation of the question. Based on the Centre's finding the court had dismissed the plea.
Now, the latest is, Supreme Court has also dismissed a plea filed by 22 NEET-UG 2021 candidates demanding recalculation of their NEET scores due to the alleged error in that particular physics question in the Hindi paper of NEET.
A bench headed by Justice DY Chandrachud disposed of the plea by these students. The petitioners' counsel said in the court that the bench must look at the physics textbook before dismissing the plea as the physics textbook is considered as the Bible for students.
On this statement, the bench replied that if the book is the bible then the professors in the government panel who gave their opinion to the Centre are like Jesus Christ.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) had recently agreed to evaluate the physics question by a panel of three experts to decide if there is an error due to the Hindi translation of the question.
NEET 2021 was held on September 12 in 13 different languages that include Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Punjabi, Malayalam, Odiya, Marathi, Urdu, Bengali, Gujarati, Assamese, Hindi, and English.
