SC seeks Centre's response on implementation of reservation policy for NEET PG Counselling

A plea in the Supreme Court has alleged that the AIQ reservation policy is not being followed properly for NEET PG Counselling and the court has directed the Centre to file an affidavit in response to this plea.

The petitioner's counsel Advocate Prashant Bhushan said candidates who applied in the reserved category but scored high marks making them eligible for admission in the general category, were still being allotted quota seats in violation of the Supreme Court's verdicts in the past, as reported by NDTV.

As per the plea, reserved category meritorious candidates, who have qualified for general seats in the NEET PG 22 examination, were being allotted seats under the quota meant for the weaker sections.

The bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices Hima Kohli and JB Pardiwala has directed Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati to file an affidavit about the exact procedure being followed in the examination.

Additional Solicitor General Bhati said, "We are bound by the reservation policy which has been indicated in the NEET-PG examination brochure and this policy is not for only 50 seats but it is roster wise and speciality wise. This is the law which is being followed."

The matter has been listed for the next hearing on November 21 and the Centre has been asked to file an affidavit mentioning the procedure adopted for NEET PG admission.
