Supreme Court has rejected NEET PG Postponement plea

The Supreme Court has dismissed the petitions seeking the postponement of the NEET PG 2023 exam. The NEETPG-2023 Exam is scheduled on March 5.

The Supreme Court refused to entertain the petitions seeking NEET PG postponement.

While hearing petitions challenging the National Board of Examinations (NBE)’s decision to hold NEET PG 2023 on March 5, the apex court dismissed the petition. The petitioners claimed that if the time between the entrance exam and the counselling is not reduced, then it will lead to a waste of time for candidates.

The petitioners were demanding the postponement of NEET PG 2023, scheduled for March 5, to a later date as according to them there is not enough time to prepare for the exam.

On the other hand, the NBE informed the Supreme court that 2.09 lakh students have registered for NEET PG and if the exam is postponed, a date to hold the exam in the near future may not be available.

Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Aishwarya Bhati argued that all preparations to hold the exam has been completed and if it has to be postponed, a new date may not be available in the near future

Last week, the NBE informed the Supreme Court that around 2.09 lakh candidates have registered for the NEET-PG exam 2023. There is “no alternative date for conducting the exam may be available in the near future if it is postponed.”
NEET PG 2023 will be conducted at more than 800 centres for more than 2 lakh students, NBE has claimed.

The students were demanding NEET PG 2023 exams be postponed by two months to provide sufficient time for the students to prepare for the exams and also provide an opportunity for the serving interns.
