United Institute of Medical Sciences' students demand postponement of offline exams

MBBS Batch 2020 of United Institute of Medical Sciences has written to the Principal for demanding postponement of upcoming first-year professional offline examinations due to the ongoing third wave of Covid-19.

The students of the United Institute of Medical Sciences have written to the Principal that some students are not well due to the ongoing Covid-19 wave and others are extremely stressed and worried as there are active cases present in the university side Hostel block. Also, the letter highlighted that the various staff members and workers have got infected with the coronavirus and the students are fearing that it can spread to the MBBS hostel block also. The letter stated that due to the Covid-19 third wave, the students are mentally unprepared to appear in examinations.

The letter reads, "Many of our colleagues are sick with cold, fever and other Covid like symptoms and also there are many of our colleagues whose family members are infected with Covid and as a result, the situation is quite aggravated and we are highly stressed and mentally unprepared to appear for such an important exam of our academic life."

The letter has highlighted that many institutes like Government medical college, Meerut, Saifai Medical College, Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Integral Medical College and others have postponed the offline examinations in the current Covid-19 situation.

"Various institutions have already postponed their offline exams, for now, keeping in mind the mental and physical health of students. We are hopeless and in despair, neither able to follow all Covid protocols essential for our well being. In this third wave of the pandemic, our parents are concerned about our mental well being and are feeling very helpless about this situation. Therefore, we request the respected Principal and the Management of our Institute with great hopes to give a voice to the students' plea and request Atal Bihar Vajpayee University for postponement of offline exams on behalf of this institute," adds the letter.
