Gujarat resident doctors again went on a day-long strike on Tuesday to demand the expedition of NEET PG 2021 Counselling, they were available only for emergency treatments.

The unprecedented delay in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG 2021 Counselling has triggered a nationwide protest of resident doctors to expedite the counselling process. Gujarat resident doctors were on strike on Tuesday for the second time to demand the expedition of NEET PG 2021 Counselling.

Nearly 1,000 resident doctors protested against the repeated delay in NEET PG Counselling 2021. As per these doctors, the shortage of staff in civil hospitals have increased their workload tremendously. They had observed a similar strike on November 29 and had withdrawn the OPD (out-patient department) services from 9 am to 5 pm.

As per reports, the doctors went again on strike as their demands were not heard by the government.

Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) had initiated the nationwide strike on November 27 in this regard, and it was later on joined by others. Recently, FORDA also met the Union Health Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya and later on confirmed that the Health Minister assured them that he will try to get an early hearing of the related case in Supreme Court and will also try to delink NEET PG 2021 Counselling from Reservation Policy. However, in absence of any official statement, FORDA decided to continue their protest.

More than one week ago, the Centre had informed the Supreme Court that they are ready to revisit Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category criteria for NEET Counseling and for that Centre has taken four weeks from the court. The Centre has assured the top court that they will not conduct the counselling until they take a final decision on the EWS category's criterion.
