NEET-PG 2021: Special Stray Round for unfilled seats not possible, says DGHS

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has informed Supreme Court that a special stray round of NEET PG 2021 counselling can not be conducted now as the software is closed.

NEET-PG 2021: During the court proceedings of the plea seeking a special stray round to fill 1,456 medical seats, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has informed Supreme Court that further rounds of counselling could not be conducted to fill these seats as the counselling software is closed now.

DGHS' counsel has submitted in the court that the software used for the online counselling of NEET-PG 2021 is closed and refund of security deposit for participating in PG counselling has been initiated, as reported by Free Press Journal. 

"The petitioner has made the plea at a belated stage and it may impact the whole process for upcoming counselling session for NEET-PG 2022, and it is also difficult to run concurrently counselling for two academic sessions," added DGHS' affidavit.

SC reserves order for tomorrow

The top court of India has reserved its order on the case for Friday. A bench of Justices M R Shah and Aniruddha Bose said it would pronounce its order tomorrow after the counsel for the parties completed their arguments, as reported by Business Standard.

The Supreme Court had slammed Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on Wednesday on the 1,456 vacant medical seats in NEET PG-2021 and said that the committee is playing with students' future as its their duty to see that the seats do not remain vacant.
