NEET PG Counselling 2021: GMCs services in Kerala hit badly after house surgeons join the protest
After the house surgeons of Kerala government medical colleges have joined the ongoing protest of the junior resident doctors against delay in NEET PG Counselling 2021, the medical services hit badly in the state.
The resident doctors of Kerala medical colleges are protesting to demand immediate admission to the first-year postgraduate medical courses which are pending due to delay in NEET PG Counselling 2021. The demand is also to appoint non-academic junior residents and increase the monthly payments.
Today, after the house surgeons of these hospitals have extended support to the protesting junior doctors, the health care services were hit badly across the state, the out-patient wings remained overcrowded and many patients were sent back due to the non-availability of doctors as only senior doctors were on duty.
Currently, NEET PG Counselling 2021 is on hold as the Centre has taken four weeks time from the Supreme Court of India to revisit the INR 8 lakh annual income limit set to determine Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category for NEET Counselling. The Centre had also informed the top court that NEET PG Counselling 2021 will be conducted only after taking a final decision on this criteria.
After this Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) announced a nationwide strike from November 27 to protest against the repeated delay in NEET PG Counselling 2021 and the protest was later on joined by the resident doctors across the country. Currently, FORDA has put the protest on hold till December 16 after the plea by MoHFW for fast-tracking the court case related to EWS.
