NEET-PG Postponement: Medical students to protest today demanding exam postponement

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Post Graduate (NEET-PG) exam is scheduled to be held on May 21.

Medical students have decided to hold a protest today in solidarity with the demand for NEET-PG 2022 aspirants for the postponement of the exam. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Post Graduate (NEET-PG) exam is scheduled to be held on May 21.

The All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA) has called for a nationwide protest today between 3 PM-7 PM, to press for de the demand for NEET-PG postponement. Several student and doctors associations have requested the central government including the Prime Minister and President of India requesting to intervene and get the exam postponed.

As per the AIMSA, the NEET-PG aspirants are in dilemma. “What was supposed to be a career deciding examination for them has turned into a nightmare. The students are demanding for POSTPONEMENT of the NEET PG exam to be held on May 21, 2022,” it stated in a statement.

Various issues that have led to this appeal for exam postponement also include a delayed process of NEET PG 2021 counselling. And due to this delay, the duration between the counselling process and the NEET PG 2022 exam is too short to prepare.

More than 5000 interns from Kerala, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand will be ineligible to write the NEET PG due to a delay in the completion of their internship owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Many interns are considered ineligible for the exam due to a delay in their internship as they were asked to serve during the peak time of covid by our Prime Minister,” reads a statement from AIMSA.

The students have decided to protest as according to them the process of requesting and representations for their cause has been going on for more than 20 days. It states: “Several Medical organizations have tried to approach the MoHFW. Unfortunately, the ministry has not turned up with our hard efforts and NBEMS have even refused appointments to meet our representatives.”

The association has requested all the doctors from the medical community and other associations to support aspirants and stand for protest in all colleges so that our voices be heard by concerned officials on an urgent basis.
