NIOS D.El.Ed programme candidates are not valid to apply for various teaching posts! 

It’s good news for students who are pursuing a NIOS Diploma in Elementary Education, D.El.Ed (ODL Programme) or already have a degree of NIOS D.El.Ed  programme. Such candidates are now eligible to apply for teaching jobs in various schools. The Human Resource and Development Minister, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank confirmed that the National Council of Teacher Education, NCTE amended the provisions of eligibility, making the D.El.Ed candidates eligible to apply for school teacher jobs.

The HRD minister, Mr Pokhriyal took to his official social media handle on Twitter to confirm the same. The minister tweeted, ‘Honoring the decision of Hon'ble Patna High Court to maintain equivalence between D.El.Ed syllabus conducted through NIOS and any other NCTE recognized institute for employment purposes, NCTE has accepted the decision.”

The official notification confirming the validity of NIOS D.EL.Ed programme for various teaching jobs is given below:

Furthermore, the minister also informed that a letter to this effect is already written to the ACS (Education) of the Government of Bihar. After this decision, the difficulties of the D.El.Ed diploma holders will be eased as they will now be able to apply for various posts of school teachers. “Honoring the decision of the court, NCTE has written a letter to the ACS (Education), Government of Bihar. This decision will help D.El.Ed diploma holders apply for the post of school teachers,” the minister tweeted.

Candidates may please note that the provisions of D.El.Ed  ODL was not valid so far for senior teaching positions. These amendments will benefit lakhs of diploma holders as they would now be able to apply for teaching posts.
