NIT Andhra Pradesh joins hands with LinkedIn

The collaboration will help solve research problems in enabling intelligent and elastic cloud computing. 

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Andhra Pradesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with LinkedIn. The aim is to facilitate collaborative research and development between the two organisations.  

The agreement was signed between CSP Rao, Director, NIT Andhra Pradesh, and Naga Krishna R Sathvalli, Director, business systems programme, LinkedIn. Chidambaran Kollengode, Director, Data and AI Platforms division of LinkedIn, spearheads this research collaboration on behalf of LinkedIn.  

Under the MoU, a research grant will be awarded to principal investigator Karthick Seshadri, NIT Andhra Pradesh, and co-investigator Nagesh Bhattu Sristy, NIT Andhra Pradesh, for solving open research problems in enabling intelligent and elastic cloud computing.  

Rao said, “The association of the two organisations will enable joint research in the niche area of intelligent cloud computing and in fostering research to address industry relevant problems by the academia.”  This is the second of its kind MoU between the two organisations. The first MoU was signed in June 2020.  

The researchers of NIT Andhra Pradesh and Kollengode have also devised an unsupervised model for profiling the workloads arriving at the data centre and a supervised ensemble model for prediction of resource demands on cloud. 

NIT Andhra Pradesh is an institute of national importance and is the 31st institution among the chain of NITs started by the Government of India. It offers Btech programmes in eight engineering branches – biotechnology, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, electronics and communication engineering, mechanical engineering, and metallurgical and materials engineering, besides Mtech programme in eight specialisations.
