NLSIU organised a two-day workshop on Data Sharing for Good Health & Well-Being: India’s Way Forward to Achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3 on September 8 to September 9, 2022.

NLSIU organises workshop on Data Sharing for Good Health & Well-Being

NLSIU, in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition and BML Munjal University, has organised a workshop titled ‘Data Sharing for Good Health & Well-Being: India’s Way Forward to Achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3.’

The workshop is being held on September 8 and September 9, 2022, at J.W. Marriott Hotel, Vittal Mallya Road, Bengaluru. This workshop is being organised as part of an international research project titled “Regulating the Data Economy in Emerging Economies” initiated by the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, Munich. The other partner institutions in this project are Université Virtuelle du Sénégal and Mackenzie University of Brazil. There will be 50 participants from diverse backgrounds ranging from industry, government bodies, policymakers, and academia.

The first workshop, as part of this global collaboration, was organised in Dakar in April 2022. This workshop is intended to facilitate a comprehensive discussion on the opportunities and challenges for data sharing for good health and well-being, particularly from the Indian context.

Yesterday, welcome remarks were given by Prof. Sudhir Krishnaswamy, Vice Chancellor, National Law School of India University, Bengaluru & Prof. Pritam Baruah, Dean, School of Law, BML Munjal University. Also, the Context and Overview of the project were given by Prof. Dr Josef Drexl, Director, Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, Munich. Data sharing in the health care sector: Experiences from Brazil was by Dr Vicente Bagnoli.

Today, Key Perspectives: Policymakers Introduction was presented by Dr Arul George Scaria, Ms Anna Roy (Senior Advisor, NITI Aayog), and Mr Rahul Matthan (Partner, Trilegal). The workshop will conclude by today evening.
