NMC advises doctors to use white coats made of Khadi
National Medical Commission (NMC) has advised the doctors to use a white coat made of Khadi due to its multiple benefits, read here to know more.
National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued an advisory regarding the usage of Khadi products in medical colleges/institutions.
The NMC notification reads, "Khadi & Village Industries Commission, a statutory establishment under Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, provides linkages with established marketing agencies in order to promote sale and marketing of Khadi and/or products of village industries or handicrafts."
"KVIC has also been providing financial assistance to institutions and individuals for development and operation of Khadi and Village Industries and generating employment for millions of people in rural areas," added the notification.
KVIC designs products for medical professionals
NMC's notification stated that KVIC also aims for the usage of Khadi products by medical professionals such as bed-sheet, pillow covers, aprons, curtains, patient's gowns, soaps, hand-wash, phenyl etc. As per the advisory, it is scientifically proven that Khadi products are not only good for health but also eco-friendly. NMC has said that doctors mandatorily wear a white coat during duty hours, so they are advised to use a white coat made of Khadi.
The commission has advised all doctors, colleges and hospital management to encourage the usage of Khadi products at their institutes, hospitals, nursing homes etc, and help in providing employment and building up the self-reliant and strong rural community.
NMC recently put draft regulations in the public domain and invited comments in general and experts, stakeholders, and organisations latest by June 22, 2022.
