NMC cancels admissions in three private medical colleges

In March, the National Medical Commission (NMC) carried out a surprise inspection of medical colleges and based on that now it has cancelled admissions in three private medical colleges including MNR Medical College and Hospital, Sangareddy, Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences, Vikarabad, and TRR Institute of Medical Sciences, Patancheru.

In MNR Medical College and Hospital, undergraduate and postgraduate courses are cancelled, in Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences, PG seats are cancelled and in TRR Institute of Medical Sciences, NMC has withdrawn the letter of permission for first renewal and second batch admission.

Cancellation order came after admission was complete

NMC did not act immediately after the inspection and admissions to UG and PG courses were carried out till May first week and on May 19, the commission ordered admission cancellation.

“We are going for an appeal against the NMC decision because otherwise, the students will suffer. Students shall not suffer because admissions had been done as per the permission that was in existence on the day of admissions," said an official in MNR College, as reported by Deccan Chronicle.

As per reports, the inspection focussed on the patient inflow in the hospitals attached to the medical colleges.

The surprise inspection was carried out at 12 private medical colleges under the Union Health Ministry. A team of 3-5 doctors inspected these colleges.
