NMC cancels UG, PG seats at MNR Medical College, Students seek VCs assurance

After the National Medical Commission has cancelled the UG and PG seats at MNR Medical College in Sangreaddy, 50 PG students tried to meet KNRUHS to get an assurance that their careers would be protected.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has cancelled admissions at three private medical colleges in Telangana based on the surprise visit by its team. The cancellation order came after the admission process was completed in these colleges.

At MNR Medical College, situated at Sangreaddy, the situation is bad as not only undergraduate but postgraduate courses are also cancelled. The colleges is affiliated to Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS). The PG seats of MNR Medical College's pathology, anatomy, ophthalmology and biochemistry courses have been cancelled by NMC.

KNRHUS VC refuses to meet MNR Medical College's PG students

Upset by the cancellation of seats, nearly 50 PG students from MNR Medical College tried to meet KNRHUS Vice-Chancellor Dr B Karunakar Reddy. However, the VC has refused to meet these students.

As per Indian Express report, VC has said that he has not received any communication from the NMC about the cancellation. 

"There are no directions or orders to us. The students need not worry about their careers. If at all the seats get cancelled, the State government would take care of the students' interests," he said. 

The other two medical colleges where admissions got cancelled are Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences, Vikarabad and TRR Institute of Medical Sciences, Patancheru.
