NMC releases clarification on eligibility of final year PG students

National Medical Commission (NMC) has released clarification regarding eligibility of the final year PG students (2019-20 session) without completing the 'Online Course in Research Methods' for appearing in final PG examination 2022 of PG Programmes.
As per official notification, NMC's Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) has received a number of representations from various medical colleges and PG students seeking exemption from completing the 'Online Course in Research Methods' which was earlier stipulated that all students admitted from the academic year 2019-20 onwards needs to complete and the course was essential for appearing for the final examination of the respective postgraduate courses.
Students without completing course may be allowed with a condition
The NMC's notification stated that the matter has been examined in the meeting of Post Graduate Medical Education Board and the following has been decided:
The 'Online Course in Research Methods' is applicable for the students of super specialty courses also.
Students who have not completed the course can be allowed to appear in the final PG exams but such students need to complete the course within six months for which Dean will facilitate in registration of the course and the result of such students may be declared after completion of the Online Course in Research Methods. However, in case of non-availability of slots in ICMR, the respective institute may itself conduct the course and the Dean should issue a certificate for having completed the course, for the present batch only. The Board has decided that the Inspector/Assessor will verify that the students have completed the course or not.
