There is no limit on the number of attempts for the CSIR NET exam. Candidates can appear for the NET exam as many times as they want till they achieve the desired scores.

The CSIR NET result is prepared with the normalisation of marks of candidates as per the given steps:

Step 1: Distribution of candidates in two shifts

Firstly, the total number of candidates who appeared for the exam are distributed in two sessions so that each session has an equal number of candidates. The two sessions are as follows:

Session-1: Day-1 Shift-1, Session-2: Day-1 Shift-2

Note: If the exam is held in a more number of days or less number of shifts, the candidates will be divided accordingly.

Step 2: Result preparation for each session

The CSIR NET result is prepared for each session in the form of:

Step 3: Compilation of CSIR NET scores

The percentile scores of the total raw scores for all the sessions, calculated in Step 2, are merged to form the NTA scores (percentile). These NTA scores are then used by the NTA for the compilation of CSIR UGC NET results.

CSIR NET is conducted by NTA to shortlist aspirants for the award of JRF and to determine the eligibility of candidates for the Assistant Professor post for Science subjects only. On the other hand, the UGC NET is conducted by NTA to select candidates for the award of JRF and eligibility of Assistant Professor for all other subjects (total 82).

 JRF selected through CSIR- National Eligibility Test (NET) are given a stipend of INR 31,000 per month for the first two years. The stipend is increased to INR 35,000 for the third and subsequent years if the fellow is registered for a PhD.

Candidates who have obtained a degree in BTech/ BE/ BPharma/ MBBS/ BS/ Integrated BS-MS/ MSc with a minimum of 55 per cent marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and OBC (50 per cent for SC/ST, Third gender and PwD) are eligible to apply for CSIR NET exam.

There is only one paper in the CSIR NET exam. However, the question paper is divided into three parts- Part A, Part B and Part C.

• PwD candidates should submit certificates as per Government of India rules.
• EWS category certificate (Income and Asset Certificate) issued by the appropriate competent authority, for the financial Year 2020-2022 or 2022 as per the format given in Appendix-V of the Information Bulletin of the Joint CSIR UGC JRF NET June 2022.
