The Madhya Pradesh Nursing Council has cancelled the affiliation of 14 nursing colleges of the Gwalior-Chambal region.
Following a probe ordered by the Gwalior Bench of High Court, Madhya Pradesh Nursing Council has cancelled the affiliation of 14 nursing colleges of the Gwalior-Chambal region.
An advocate Umesh Bohare has said the colleges whose affiliation has been cancelled include 13 colleges of Gwalior district and one of Morena district, as reported by The Free Press Journal.
As per a petition filed by Hariom in the Gwalior bench of the High Court the nursing colleges had not fulfilled the guidelines of having their own 100 beds capacity hospital. The petition added that even the hospitals did not have trained staff and doctors. Hariom is a resident of Bhind district and Bohare is his advocate.
On August 24, 2021, the High Court ordered to form a commission for the inspection of the nursing colleges operating in the region.
After this, the All India Private Nursing College Association moved to the Supreme Court to challenge the high court order.
HC ordered the 10-membered committee to probe nursing colleges' infrastructure
The Supreme Court had again transferred the case to the Gwalior Bench of the High Court and directed to appoint a fresh commission, said Bohare.
Following the SC order, the High Court ordered a 10-membered committee to probe the lack of infrastructure in 271 nursing colleges of the region on January 24, this year.
The High Court also directed that the committee would have to submit its report in 2 months which has not been prepared yet.
The Madhya Pradesh Nursing Council has demanded a change in the petition saying that there were only 214 nursing colleges in the region instead of 271. Out of these colleges, the affiliation of 14 colleges has been cancelled and the rest 200 colleges are yet to be investigated, he added.
