After analyzing the situation in the city, the Chandigarh administration has finally released fresh guidelines amid the rapidly increasing COVID-19 cases. The new measures laid down by the administration of Chandigarh state that schools, colleges and all educational institutions in the Union Territory would shut down their physical operations and move to online learning mode. The latest order issued by the Administration directs schools and all the other educational institutions to shift all academic learning and teaching activities to online mode for now.

However, the rest of the educational institutions have been asked to put a hold on their offline classes with immediate effect. The orders will remain in effect until further notification.
After witnessing fresh cases of the novel coronavirus emerging in the city, the Union Territory decided to impose restrictions. Chandigarh has reported, 229 new cases, taking the tally of active cases to 665 on Thursday. This has prompted the administration to impose a new set of curbs and restrictions to curb the spread of the pandemic.
The new restrictions also include the imposition of night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am. Operations in government and private offices would take place at 50% capacity of the actual strength in regards to Group C and D. The orders are not applicable on essential services and departments. On similar lines, bars, cinema halls, malls, restaurants, etc. have also been allowed to operate on 50 per cent capacity.
