Over 7 lakh candidates have qualified RRB NTPC 2021 CBT 1 exam. Addressing the concern raised by candidates against the shortlisting process for the second stage, RRBs have issued a clarification notice. Read this article below for complete details.

Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have shortlisted seven lakh candidates for RRB NTPC second stage CBT based on the result of the first stage CBT. The result of RRB NTPC CBT 1 exam was announced on January 14. After the result was announced, concerns were raised by some candidates over the shortlisting process for the second stage. To address the concern of candidates, RRBs have issued a clarification notice against RRB NTPC CBT 1 result as well the shortlisting process for the second stage.

In the notice, railways have mentioned that the recruitment is being conducted for 13 categories of undergraduate and undergraduate posts. These 13 categories were segregated into five groups based on 7th CPC payscale levels-2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Candidates could opt for all or any of these thirteen categories subject to conditions of eligibility in the application form.

The first stage CBT was a common exam for all the categories and posts. In the second stage, a separate exam will be conducted for each levels-2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 with different levels of difficulty. Accordingly, all posts which fall within the same level will have a common second-stage CBT exam. Candidates who are eligible and had opted for more than one level are required to appear in the corresponding second stage CBT for each level since the difficulty level will be different for each group of posts (Graduate or undergraduate level).

Shortlisting of candidates for second stage CBT has been done separately for each level based on the options given by them and their educational qualification. Candidates 20 times the number of vacancies have been called for second stage CBT. Earlier, the shortlisting was done 10 times the number of vacancies. In case multiple candidates have obtained the same marks at the cutoff level, all have been called for the second stage. Candidates who have been shortlisted for high-level posts cannot be debarred for appearing in the second stage CBT of lower-level posts.

Though eligible candidates have been selected for appearing in the separate corresponding second stage CBT, the final appointment will be done against one post only.
