Patna HC stays the recruitment of Bihar Mining Corp

The Patna High Court has put the selection process of Bihar State Mining Corporation Limited's Law Officers on hold for now and scheduled the next hearing in the case on March 8.

The Bench of Justice PB Bajanthri has stayed the selection process while hearing a petition challenging the recruitment notification of the Corporation which stated that only law graduates from the Chanakya National Law University, Patna (CNLU) need to apply for the post of Law Officers.

The court has also directed the petitioner to place on record the rules of recruitment to the post of Law Officer or executive order before the next date of hearing, as reported by Live Law.

As per reports, the Bihar Mining Corporation Limited had issued a letter to the Vice-Chancellor of CNLU for the recruitment of 10 law students for the post of Law Officer and the University had informed the CNLU students about the same and asked interested candidates to apply by submitting their CVs and other details.

On which the petitioner, Saurav Narayan, a law graduate of Delhi University sent a representation against the proposal to the CEO of the Corporation and when no action was taken on it, he knocked on the door of the Patna High Court.

The plea reads, "The entire process of notification of appointment is arbitrary and illegal, which deprives and excludes the petitioner who had obtained LLB Degree from Delhi University, Delhi from competing for the post of Law Officer in the Bihar State Mining Corporation, Government of Bihar."
