Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme 2022: the government has issued the official notification for the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) for students of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh under general stream courses.
What is PMSSS 2022?
Jammu & Kashmir Government provides the PM Special Scholarship Scheme to assist students of these regions to pursue undergraduate studies in colleges outside the Union Territories. The candidates selected for this scholarship will avail of academic fees and maintenance charges.
CUET compulsory for UG admissions in Central Universities
CUET (Common University Entrance Examination) is now compulsory for admission to undergraduate programmes in all Central Universities from the academic session 2022-23, University Grants Commission (UGC) said in its latest order. According to the official reports, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the Common University Entrance Examination in July 2022. NTA has already commenced the registration for the entrance exam on April 2, 2022, on its official portal.
In order to avail of the benefits of the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme 2022, all aspiring students of J&K and Ladakh are required to apply for registration and appear for CUET as and when conducted for admissions in Central Universities, State Universities, and other Private Universities for the academic session 2022-23.

Meanwhile, The Jammu and Kashmir administration has decided to upgrade 200 schools in tribal areas to establish a strong educational ecosystem for the community, officials said on Monday. The government has set aside NR 104 crore to strengthen school infrastructure in tribal areas and an annual outlay of INR 30 crore has been earmarked for scholarships for tribal students.
According to PTI, a senior officer from the administration said, “For providing education on modern lines to tribal children, the government started an ambitious project of transforming 200 schools into smart schools in tribal areas at a cost of INR 40 crore.
