RRC/RRB Group D 2022 Exam: RRBs Make Major Changes in Recruitment Process

Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), on April 7, have published an important notice related to RRB Group D 2022 exam. In the notice, RRBs have announced some major changes in the recruitment process related to exam stage, EWS certificate, normalisation of marks, document verification and empaneling of candidates, post preferences, post parameters (Qualification, Medical Standard and Suitability of the post for PwBD etc.). RRB Group D 2022 exam is scheduled to commence from July 2022 onwards. 1.15 crore candidates had registered for RRC Group D Level-1 exam.

Important Changes Announced for RRB Group D Recruitment

The important changes announced for RRB Group D recruitment are summarised below:

Exam Stage

RRBs have withdrawn the corrigendum and amendment no-3 (published on January 24, 2022) wherein CBT 2 exam was introduced in RRB Group D. There will be only single stage Computer Based Test (CBT) exam for RRB Group D.

EWS Certificate

As per the notice, EWS certificate issued after the date of notification will also be considered valid on the date of document verification.

Calculation of Normalized Marks for Multi-Session Papers

In CBT, the examination will be conducted in multiple sessions (shifts). For these multisession papers, the percentile score-based normalization method will be used. Though railway administration reserves the right to modify the formula/adopt different formula based on technical considerations.

Document Verification and Empanelling of Candidates

Based on the performance of candidates in CBT subject to their qualifying in PET, the number of candidates to be called for Document Verification (DV) shall henceforth be equal to the number of notified vacancies (i.e. in the ratio of 1:1). In case of shortfall in empanelment of candidates or other exigencies, RRB/RRC reserves the right to utilize the candidates down the merit list if required, as per the merit and option of the candidates. This however will not confer any vested right on such candidates to be considered for appointment. In case of two or more candidates securing same normalized percentile score , their merit position will be determined by age criteria i.e., older person shall be placed at higher merit and in case of age being same, then alphabetical order (A to Z) of the name will be taken into account to break the tie.

Preference for Posts and Railways/Units

In case of shortfall in empanelment of candidates or other exigencies, RRB/RRC reserves the right to utilize the candidates down the merit list if required, as per the merit and option of the candidates. This however will not confer any vested right on such candidates to be considered for appointment. The designation of Assistant Pointsman has been changed to Pointsman.

Post Parameters

Railways have made modifications in the post parameters announced in the detailed RRB Group D notification. Post Parameters for various posts have been kept as per Medical Standards as prescribed in Indian Railway Medical Manual (IRMM).
