Delhi University to Consider UGC NET June 2024 & Dec 2024 Scores for PhD Admissions
The University of Delhi has also revises Scholarship and Award Norms. The EC approved a 20-25% increase in PhD seats compared to the previous admission round, enhancing opportunities for research aspirants.
The EC has decided to include UGC NET scores from both June 2024 and December 2024 for admissions in the second phase of the PhD admission cycle for the academic session 2024-25. Preference will be given to candidates who qualify for NET along with JRF. Additionally, the EC approved a 20-25% increase in PhD seats compared to the previous admission round, enhancing opportunities for research aspirants.
In alignment with undergraduate admission policies, DU has passed a resolution to reserve one additional seat in each postgraduate program for single girl child students under an additional quota. This initiative aims to promote higher education among women.
The EC also approved revised norms for donations to institute scholarships, awards, and capital assets. Scholarships can now be established by government entities, trusts, corporate houses, PSUs, NGOs, international organizations, and individuals. The minimum donation required for establishing a scholarship will be ₹5 lakh for a 10-year period or ₹10 lakh for 20 years. Additionally, 2% of the total amount will be allocated to the DU Endowment Fund upon establishment. A committee formed by the Vice Chancellor will oversee the approval of scholarships.
Similarly, awards can also be established by the same entities and individuals, with the same minimum donation criteria. However, awards cannot be established for a period exceeding 20 years. These decisions reflect DU’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities and fostering a supportive ecosystem for students and researchers.
