Step 1: The number of candidates to be qualified, that is, total slots or eligibility for Assistant Professor must be equal to 6% of the total candidates appearing in both the papers of UGC NET.

Step 2: Total slots are allocated to candidates belonging to different categories according to the reservation policy of the Government of India.

Step 3: To be eligible for JRF and Assistant Professor, candidates must appear for both papers and obtain at least 40% aggregate marks in both papers for the General or Unreserved category and 35% aggregate marks in both papers for candidates belonging to the reserved categories (SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), PwD, and Transgender). 

The number of candidates declared UGC NET qualified in any subject for a particular category is derived as per the methodology explained below:

The aggregate percentage obtained by candidates in the two papers corresponding to the number of slots shall determine the qualifying cut-off for eligibility for Assistant Professor in Economics for the SC category. Similarly, cutoffs shall be decided for all subjects and categories.

The following factors, as mentioned below, are considered by the exam authorities to determine the UGC NET Cut off 2022.

Various factors are taken into consideration by the exam authorities to calculate the cut-off of the UGC NET exam.
