UPSC to announce new exam dates for NDA, IAS, CAPF, IES this week

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will release the revised exam schedule for NDA, IAS, CAPF, IES and other exams this week. The commission will hold a meeting on June 5 and review the COVID-19 situation in the country. Post this, UPSC will decide whether it can resume conducting the exams. In addition, the commission is expected to release UPSC exam calendar 2021.

The official notice released by UPSC reads, “The commission will issue a revised schedule of examinations that were deferred in the last two months in its next meeting to be held on June 5. Details of the new UPSC calendar 2020 will be published on the official website after the meeting.”

Candidates can check below the list of exams for which the new dates are awaited. These exams were postponed due to the emergent situation arising out of COVID-19.

UPSC IAS: The prelims exam of IAS was scheduled to be conducted on May 31, 2020. In the wake of COVID-19, the exam was cancelled. It is expected that the exam will be conducted either in July or August. A large number of candidates appear for this exam every year. Successful candidates are selected for Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Police Services (IPS) and Central Civil Services including the Indian Foreign Service. It is expected that the mains exam date will be deferred which is scheduled to be conducted on September 18. The Interview round of Civil Services exam 2019 has also been put on hold.

NDA (I): The written exam of NDA was scheduled to be conducted on April 19. The exam was cancelled in view of the prevailing situation. Candidates who have filled NDA application form are eagerly waiting for the exam dates. The decision regarding the new NDA exam dates will be taken in the meeting to be conducted on June 5. NDA exam is conducted to select candidates for the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of National Defence Academy and Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC).

IES 2020: The mains exam of IES is scheduled to be held on June 28. However, the exam will be postponed keeping in view the current situation. UPSC will announce the new IES exam dates for the mains exam. The exam is conducted to recruit candidates for engineering positions in various departments under the Government of India. The exam is conducted for four branches: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.

 UPSC CAPF: The commission had deferred the notification for UPSC CAPF which was scheduled to be released on April 22. As a result of which, UPSC CAPF exam dates also stands postponed. The new dates related to the recruitment exam will be announced on June 5.  The exam is conducted to recruit candidates as Assistant Commandant (AC) in Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

UPSC CMS: UPSC CMS was scheduled to be released on April 8, 2020. However, the notification was deferred by the commission due to COVID-19. The exam is scheduled to be conducted on July 19. It is likely that the exam will be postponed to some other date. The new UPSC CMS exam dates will be announced soon.  

After deciding the exam date, UPSC will issue admit cards to candidates for the various exams. The admit cards will be available on the official website of UPSC. Candidates can download it by logging with the required details. The admit cards will have details regarding exam centre, time, session, city, etc.
