Schools in Bihar to partially reopen from September 28 for Classes 9 to 12, the state education department announced.
Bihar government has given its nod to partially reopen the schools across the state from September 28 for students studying in Classes 9 to 12 belonging to non-containment zones. The state education department in its order stated that Classes 9 to 12 students will be allowed to visit schools for seeking academic guidance, following health advisories and SOPs issued by the Central Government. However, hostels and coaching institutes in the state will continue to remain closed.
Students will only be allowed to visit the schools subject to a written consent from parents, the order said. One-third of the total students and 50 per cent of the total teachers will be allowed to attend schools on a day. Students will be divided into three groups -- Monday to Thursday, Tuesday to Friday and Tuesday to Saturday.
Schools will be sanitised before the commencement of classes. Biometric attendance system will not be used, the order said. The order said that social distancing must be maintained during the classes. Activities like Prayer, sports sessions, will not be permitted in order to avoid overcrowding. Hand sanitizers will be made available at the entrance. Students will be required to wash hands at a regular interval, the order said.
Sanjay Kumar, Principal Secretary of the Education Department on September 20 had said that an internal meeting has been scheduled to be held on September 22 to decide in what phases and manner the school and college will be reopened in the state. “The directors of primary, secondary and higher education and other officials would attend the meeting. The stakeholders will discuss whether to reopen the schools for Classes 9 to 12 or other classes as well,” he said.
