All India Research Scholars Association has released a statement highlighting the issues that are causing mental distress to the community.

The Association has highlighted the pressing challenges faced by the Indian research scholars in their daily pursuits.

The following are the issues raised by the Association: 

Non-Net Fellowship Revision/Hike (Pending since 2006):

Issue: Pending revision or hike in the Non-Net fellowship since 2006

Concern: scholars are awaiting adjustments to the fellowship to account for changes in living costs and inflation.

Maulana Azad National Fellowship (MANSF) Revision/Hike:

Issue: Pending revision or hike in the Maulana Azad National Fellowship:

Concern: scholars are seeking an increase in the fellowship account to better meet the rising expenses associated with research and education.

Dr S Radhakrishnan UGC Postdoctoral Fellowship Results Pending (Last 15 months):

Issue: Delay in the announcement of results for the Dr S Radhakrishnan UGC Postdoctoral Fellowship

Concern: Scholars are facing uncertainty and a prolonged waiting period impacting their future research plans and career progression.

Savitribai Jyoti Rao Phule Fellowship for Single Girl Child Application Pending:

Issue: Pending processing of applications for the Savitribai Jyoti Rao Phule Fellowship

Concern: Female scholars are experiencing delays in receiving the fellowship, affecting their ability to pursue and continue their studies.

CSIR: PhD Scholars Fellowship terminated due to delayed annual progress report submission:

Issue: Termination of fellowship for CSIR PhD Scholars due to the submission of delayed Animal Progress Reports.

Concern: Scholars are facing abrupt discontinuation of financial support, emphasizing the need for a more supportive and flexible approach to address delays in administrative processes.

The Association has said that despite multiple pleas to higher authorities and the Ministry, there has been no action taken on their requests so far which is affecting the mental health of the scholars.
