CUET result 2024 delay has resulted in a delayed academic calendar of accepting universities mainly central universities. Since CUET was introduced, the admission calendar has been delayed in central universities. CUET final answer key 2024 has been released, further, CUET UG 2024 results are expected soon.

The CUET UG 2024 results, initially expected by June 30, have been delayed, potentially due to the National Testing Agency’s involvement in the NEET UG paper leak controversy. This year’s CUET was conducted in both online and pen-and-paper formats between May 15 and May 29, serving as the primary entrance test for undergraduate programs at several central universities, including DU.

Delhi University (DU) is struggling with another delay in CUET UG 2024 results, leading to growing concerns about a delayed academic calendar for 2024-25. DU Faculty members have formally requested Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh to reconsider the use of CUET (Common University Entrance Test) for Undergraduates for admissions, citing persistent issues with the process.

In their note, they argue that dependence on CUET is causing significant delays, which disrupt the university's traditionally punctual academic schedule. They criticised the introduction of CUET UG, along with other policies like the National Education Policy (NEP), for undermining DU's autonomy and leading to what they describe as policy paralysis.

This delay is not unprecedented. For the third consecutive year, CUET UG results have pushed back the start of DU's academic year. In 2022, semester classes began in November, and the following year, 2023 saw a delay to August 16 due to the conflict in Manipur affecting result announcements.

The faculty members also highlighted a lack of transparency in the CUET UG admission process and suggested that the system reduces regional diversity in classrooms. Faculty member pointed out that despite high scores—nearly 20,000 students achieved a 100 percentile in 2022, and over 22,000 in 2023—admissions remain competitive, mirroring issues once seen with the cut-off system.

Additionally, there are concerns about an increase in coaching culture, which may disadvantage students from less privileged backgrounds. The rise in coaching centers for CUET preparation contradicts claims by the UGC that such coaching is unnecessary.

Despite these criticisms, DU Vice Chancellor Singh has affirmed that Delhi University will continue using CUET for admissions, aligning with guidelines from the Government of India and the University Grants Commission (UGC). Singh assured that the university is working to start admissions as soon as results are available and will aim to begin the academic session on August 16, 2024 for CUET courses and August 1 for others.

Q:   I have filled in for 3 domain subjects in CUET. How will it affect my result if I only attempt 2 of it?

A:

While filling the CUET application form, candidates are advised to carefully mark the subjects from languages, domain subjects and general test. Candidates must check the institute wise subject requirement for the course candidate wishes to apply for. However, if the domain subjects for which the student has appeared, qualify as per the institute’s course requirement, they will be eligible for admission process.

No, class 12th marks are not taken into consideration for CUET results. However, candidates must score minimum of 50% marks in aggregate to qualify for university admission process. Class 12th or board examination is an achievement test whereas, CUET is a selection test.
