IIT JAM 2023 is around the corner and the preparation of the candidates is at a high pace. Before stepping into the exam know the exam guidelines, important details, and other information about the IIT JAM 2023 here.
IIT JAM 2023 exam will be conducted on Sunday, February 12, in 100 cities across India. This year the examination conducting body IIT Guwahati will be conducting the test in a computer-based mode for a duration of three hours. IIT JAM is the gateway of Msc and Integrated Msc-PhD programmes offered at IITs, IISc Bangalore, NITs and CFTIs. With less than five days to go for the exam, here we bring the exam day guidelines for the exam day.
IIT JAM 2023 Exam Day Guidelines
The following points bring the Dos and Don’ts to be followed on the day of the IIT JAM 2023 exam.
- Reach the exam centre 90 minutes before the scheduled time for the test commencement.
- You will be permitted to enter the exam hall 40 minutes before the test and after candidate registration and photo capture, you will be allowed to log in 20 minutes before the test and go through the instructions.
- You will have to take the seat assigned to your Roll Number and no other seat or centre, which will lead to the cancellation of your candidature.
- You will not be allowed to enter the test centre 30 minutes after the start of the exam.
- You will not be allowed to leave the centre before the exam ends.
- During the examination, a virtual scientific calculator will be available on the computer screen.
- A scribble pad will be provided for rough work. Write your name and registration number before using it and return it to the invigilator at the end of the exam. Additional scribble pads may be obtained after returning the previous pad.
Things to be Carried at the IIT JAM 2023 Exam Centre
You must carry the following documents and items to the exam centre:
- A coloured or laser printout of the IIT JAM 2023 admit card in A4 size paper.
- A valid photo identity card issued by the Government of India such as PAN Card, Voter ID Card, Aadhaar Card, Passport, Driving License, etc.
- Pen and pencil.
- Transparent water bottle.
- Pocket-sized hand sanitiser.
- Face mask which has to be worn by the candidate throughout the time spent at the exam centre.
Things Prohibited at the IIT JAM 2023 Exam Centre
The following items are barred from carrying to the exam centre:
- Books, copies or papers of any kind.
- Mobile phones, calculators, watches or any other electronic or digital devices.
- Bags or wallets.
The exam authorities have also mentioned that there would not be any place to keep candidates’ personal belongings, hence you should ideally not carry any personal belongings, except the permitted items inside the exam hall.
Important Tips For IIT JAM 2023
Here are some important exam tips for IIT JAM 2023 candidates:
- First and foremost try to attempt the available mock tests and practice as many previous years’ question as you can.
- Before going to the exam, once again go through the exam marking scheme and do attempt all the questions which carry no negative marking.
- While starting the exam do not invest more time in tricky questions, marked them as “Mark for the Review” and do it later after attempting all the questions in the paper. This will help you in managing your time during the exam
- Make sure to save the question and then proceed to the next one, so that you dont lose your session in case of any technical glitch.
IIT JAM 2023 will be conducted in two slots for seven subjects. In the first slot, the subjects tested will be Biotechnology (BT), Mathematical Statistics (MS) and Physics. In the second or the afternoon slot, the subjects of the test will be Chemistry (CY), Economics (EN), Geology (GG) and Mathematics (MS). The result of IIT JAM 2023 will be declared on March 22.
