The Asia University Rankings 2024 evaluate universities based on 18 performance indicators, recalibrated to reflect the unique attributes of Asian institutions. The assessment encompasses core missions such as teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook, ensuring comprehensive comparisons.

This year's rankings reaffirm the dominance of Chinese universities, with Tsinghua University and Peking University retaining the top two positions for the fifth consecutive year. Mainland China leads the top 100 with 33 universities, followed by South Korea with 16.

Japan maintains its status as the most-represented nation with 119 universities, while India climbs the ranks with 91 institutions featured. Notably, India surpasses China as the second most-represented country in the rankings, driven by an increase from 75 to 91 universities since last year.

The methodology employed by THE in assessing Asia's universities mirrors that of the global rankings, focusing on research-intensive institutions across their core missions. However, specific weightings are recalibrated to align with the priorities of Asian academic establishments. As the Indian Institute of Science shines on the international stage, it exemplifies India's commitment to excellence in higher education and research, fostering a culture of innovation and advancement in the academic landscape.
