On the first day, the NTA completed tests for 25,91,014 combinations, achieving a 44.71% completion rate of the CUET (UG) exam. Of the 11.4 lakh candidates scheduled across 2,157 centers in 379 cities worldwide, over 75% attended.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the successful commencement of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for Undergraduate (UG) programs in 2024, highlighting the efficient and inclusive measures implemented for this year's examination.
The hybrid-mode test is being conducted for a record 13.48 lakh candidates who have opted for 57,95,211 subject combinations. Of these combinations, 53,91,227, or around 93%, are being conducted in the traditional pen and paper format.
On the first day of the examination, the NTA successfully concluded tests for 25,91,014 combinations, marking a 44.71% completion rate of the CUET (UG) examination. A total of 11.4 lakh candidates were scheduled to take the exam at 2,157 centers in 379 cities globally, with an attendance rate exceeding 75%.
"Meticulous planning went into this year's examination to ensure a smooth and fair process," stated the NTA. "Candidates with multiple subject choices were scheduled at the same centers, and sufficient breaks were provided between shifts to facilitate their convenience. The first two shifts were held in the same examination room to minimize disruptions."
This year's examination is being conducted in a record span of just 8 days, a significant reduction from the 34 days required last year. The NTA attributes this efficiency to the extensive use of the pen and paper mode for subjects with high registrations, which has streamlined the examination process and reduced the number of days required.
The NTA emphasized that numerous measures were implemented to support candidates, including announcing the examination schedule well in advance and ensuring that candidates were allotted centers near their residences. All scheduled candidates have been provided with centers as their first choice in their respective home states.
"Elaborate arrangements have been made to deploy adequate examination functionaries across the country and abroad to ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the CUET (UG) 2024," the NTA added. "These efforts reflect our commitment to maintaining high standards of examination integrity and candidate convenience."
The CUET (UG) 2024 is a pivotal examination that provides a single window of opportunity for students seeking admission to Central Universities (CUs) and other participating institutions, including state universities, deemed universities, and private universities across India. This unified examination system simplifies the admission process for students, especially those from remote areas, by connecting them with multiple prestigious institutions through one standardized test.
