Panjab University Issues PhD Admission Guidelines; Know Process for Application Cancellation

Students having valid GATE, GPAT or any other national-level entrance scores are exempted from appearing in the PhD entrance exam. Further, regular teachers in PU or any of its affiliated colleges can also directly apply for Panjab University PhD courses.

The Panjab University (PU) has issued fresh guidelines for PhD admissions at the university. As per the circular, students having valid GATE, GPAT or any other national entrance exam scores are exempted from appearing in the university level PhD entrance examination. Further, students who are employed as regular teachers at Panjab University or any of its affiliated colleges can also directly enrol for the PhD courses. 

Further, research students of the faculty of engineering will be required to submit a PhD synopsis on or before two years from the enrolment in the programme. 

Procedure for Cancellation of Panjab University PhD Registration? 

Those students who will not submit their thesis within three months before the last date of submission will be issued a warning notice by the department chairpersons. In case of no intimation by the department, the candidature shall be automatically revoked and the case will further be initiated by the vice president of Panjab University. 

The research scholar shall be provided further extension only if the situation falls under the guidelines of JAAC of the department. 

Provided that, if a research scholar fails to submit their thesis before the maximum permissible limit stated in the guidelines, the cancellation of PhD registration will be initiated with the order of the vice-chancellor.
