The Shriram Group has announced the establishment of the Shriram Group RT Chair in Computational Mechanics at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. The Chair at IISc Bangalore symbolises the significant landmark in the contribution of the group in promoting academic excellence and research advancements, coinciding with its 50th-anniversary celebrations.
The Chair will be offered to the faculty conducting research in computational mechanics. Further, it aims at supporting research in computational mechanics in the mechanical, electrical, electronic, and computational sciences fields. The appointed chair will focus on the research that applies computational methods to counter real-world struggles. The research will focus, not be restrained to, the development of novel numerical methods, exploration of emerging computing paradigms such as quantum computing and data-driven modelling of physical phenomena.
The collaboration will focus on practical application to counter real-world challenges along with offering benefits to the academic community. This will further inspire the generation of researchers and professionals to ace the areas released to computational mechanics.
