Student tests positive for H1N1 at NIT Warangal

A student of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal has tested positive for swine flu. The patient complained of flu and fever after which he was admitted to a private hospital in Hanamkonda where the doctors confirmed that he was infected with H1N1.
Meanwhile, the institute stated, “The student who tested positive for H1N1 is being treated at a private hospital in Hanamkonda and is doing well. Sanitisation is being done on the hostel premises and in classrooms.” The hospital management has alerted the district medical and health officials, who in turn informed the NIT management and the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation.
Doctors at the health centre of the institute said they had been monitoring the situation of the infected student and asked those who were in close contact with the infected person to be in isolation for at least one week to prevent the further spread of the disease.
NIT Warangal inks agreement with IRISET
The institute had recently signed an agreement with the Indian Railways Institute of Signal Engineering & Telecommunications (IRISET). As per the agreement, IRISET will design and conduct faculty development and industrial training programmes for nominated NIT faculty, while the latter will offer short-duration certificate courses and PG diploma courses on railway signal engineering.
Both institutes will also hire faculty for conducting faculty development programmes and share training facilities such as laboratories available. The agreement was signed between NIT Warangal Director Prof NV Ramana Rao and Additional Director General of IRISET P Venkata Ramana.
