Rajasthan school students to play chess every 3rd Saturday
The ‘Chess in School’ initiative will hit the ground on November 19, 2022.
Now, Rajasthan school students will play chess during the ‘No Bag Day’ on the third Saturday of every month, said Education Minister BD Kalla.
Initiative will help in mental development of children
The programme will start simultaneously in all schools of Rajasthan from November 19. This will be good for the mental well-being of children, the minister said and added that 30 lakh sportspersons from rural areas participated in the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympic Games. As announced by the Chief Minister, these games will also be held in urban areas.
As per a Times Now report, the Education Minister said that with the start of ‘Chess in School’ initiative, children will get a chance to increase concentration, memory, discipline, self-reflection. He said the initiative will help make the mind of the future generation more creative. Bikaner Divisional Commissioner Neeraj KA Pawan said chess will help in understanding life and having this game accessible to one crore households will bring a big change.
President of Permanent Lok Adalat, Mahesh Sharma, said that for the first time in the country, this innovative initiative has been taken by a state government for the mental health and strength of the children. During the function, Kalla lit a torch and handed it over to the officials of the Education Department. The minister also started the programme by playing a game of chess with the schoolkids.
