To recruit prospective candidates, technology firms are switching to the video conferencing mode. In an attempt to carry out business as usual, firms such as Wipro, Cognizant and NTT are making use of virtual meetings to interview and select candidates.

Brian Humphries, CEO of Cognizant addressed his employees and stated that all their candidate interviews were going to be virtual. Moreover, the new onboard hires would also undergo the same process they use for visitors to their amenities. Companies are also using this as an opportunity to use advanced applications within video-based platforms.

You can have pre-filled questions in the platform and the software has the intellect to evaluate the responses and see if a match is found. It can also sense when a person is not being genuine. These tools can be used to do that more effectively when you are looking at a large pool of candidates and you have not narrowed down.

Specialists from staffing firms recommended that video-based hiring will be common in the coming weeks. Before this, this kind of hiring used to be only 10-15 per cent but now in the last two weeks, it has been seen that face to face hiring has almost gone down to nil. Staffing firms are also urging IT companies to create e-onboarding amenities taking into consideration the insecurity of when candidates can join companies.
