Telangana govt to adopt Integrated Hospital Facility Management Services
To strengthen the health care services in the state, the Telangana government has decided to adopt Integrated Hospital Facility Management Services (IHFMS).
Telangana government has announced a new health policy 'Integrated Hospital Facility Management Services' at an expenditure of INR 7,500 per hospital bed in a month to provide better patient care services in the government hospitals.
Earlier the allocation was INR 5,000 for a single hospital bed in a month. IHFMS will be implemented across all the government healthcare facilities including hospitals, nursing colleges, nursing schools and hostels, according to orders (GO Ms 32) issued on Saturday.
Health department issues GO for implementing IHFMS
The state health department has issued a government order (GO) approving IHFMS for improving health care services. A second GO provides 16% reservation to agencies owned by persons from SC communities in contracts related to the provision of IHFMS in government hospitals.
Moreover, the current policy of providing manpower of 1 person for 7000 sft built-up area and 1 person per 27,000 square feet for an open area in medical colleges is extending to all nursing colleges, nursing schools and hostels, as reported by Telangana Today.
For sanitation and maintenance in government hospitals, earlier the Telangana State Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TSMSIDC) used to call tenders to identify agencies that will take up these works. Now onwards the government hospitals with over 200 beds are allowed to directly go for tenders while those with a lesser number of beds will be clubbed while calling for tenders.
The performance of the staff and agencies who are directly responsible for bedside care, sanitation and other duties will strictly be monitored by the state government before releasing payments and the agencies which are found to be non-compliant can face automatic termination and their security amount will not be released by the authorities.
