Telangana HC stays NMC's admission cancellation order for TRR medical college

National Medical Commission (NMC) has recently cancelled the undergraduate and postgraduate medical admissions at three colleges in Telangana including Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences, Vikarabad and TRR Institute of Medical Sciences, Patancheru.

Now, the vacation bench of Telangana High Court comprising Justice Anninreddy Abhishek Reddy and Justice Mummaneni Sudhir Kumar has directed NMC not to proceed with its decision to cancel 150 new MBBS admissions in TRR Institute of Medical Sciences in Sangareddy district till the decision of the statutory appeal filed by the college before NMC.

TRR Institute of Medical Sciences challenges NMC's observations

The private medical college has filed a petition challenging the observations of the NMC about the shortcomings in the institute's infrastructure based on which the commission has ordered the cancellation of new admissions to the college.

The petitioner's counsel has alleged NMC of double standards and said that a few months ago the commission had granted permission for admissions and now after a surprise inspection saying that the infrastructure is inadequate. The petitioner's counsel said that NMC's decision is unilateral and debatable.

At MNR Medical College, nearly 50 PG students whose admissions can be cancelled after NMC's recent order tried to meet Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) Vice-Chancellor Dr B Karunakar Reddy to get assurance about their future. However, the VC has refused to meet the students but said that they haven't received any such orders yet.
