TNEA Counselling 2022 receives record-breaking applications post CBSE 12th results
Among the total applications, 1.5lakh have completed payment for the counselling and 1.35 lakh have uploaded their certificates
TNEA 2022: The declaration of CBSE 12th Results 2022 on July 22 lead to a jump in the number of TNEA 2022 applications in just two days. It’s the first time ever, the number of online applications for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counselling is set to touch two lakh. TNEA received around 8,000 applications in just two days post the announcement of CBSE results 2022 taking the total number of applications to 1,99,213 as on Saturday evening, according to TOI report.
Deadline to apply for TNEA 2022 Counselling is July 27
Among the total applications, 1.5lakh have completed payment for the counselling and 1.35 lakh have uploaded their certificates, T Purushothaman, secretary of TNEA told the media house. Students interested in engineering courses must note that the last date for applying for engineering admissions is July 27.
TNEA Counselling application process has recorded the highest-ever numbers this year. Last year, 1.74 lakh students registered but only 1,39,033 candidats paid the fees and participated in the online counselling. Meanwhile, 1.58 Lakh students were sanctioned intake. Earlier, the highest-ever applications were recorded in 2014, the TNEA received 1.91 lakh applications for engineering counselling. After many years of declining trend, In 2022 more students have applied to engineering counselling which also shows declining interest in basic science courses,” said career consultant Jayaprakash Gandhi.
Gandhi also added that this year, TNEA Counselling is receiving applications from NEET aspirants due to the better job prospects in the information technology field. Anna University former vice-chancellor E Balagurusamy told TOI that more applications for engineering courses is a good sign as it would help improve the engineering colleges. "More admissions in high and mid-level engineering colleges will help them financially and they will be able to offer quality engineering education," he said.
