TNPSC Group 4 syllabus was revised to incorporate the Tamil Language paper. Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) introduced the compulsory Tamil Language paper in the Combined Civil Service Group - 4 (Group 4) preliminary exams. There will be 100 multiple-choice questions of the Tamil language, which will be of SSLC standard. The syllabus was revised for the Village Administrative Officer (VAO) as well.

As the new syllabus, TNPSC Group-4 2021 prelims exam will have three hundred questions in total. All the questions in the paper will be objective type. The Commission released the revised syllabus and topics for the exam. There is a preliminary exam followed by the counselling and certificate verification process. The TNPSC Group 4 exam is a very popular exam among the local candidates because the candidates can get the local posting nearby to their residence.

Earlier, there was no compulsory language paper in TNPSC Group-4 preliminary exam. The candidates need to score as much as they can because the candidates are arranged in the order their marks and the candidates are selected based on the cut-off decided by the commission. Selected candidates are called for certificate verification and counselling. The counselling is done to inform the candidates about the post in their category and nearby areas. The candidates need to select the post on the counselling day. If the candidate does not opt for the post, his candidature will be cancelled and he or she will be out of the recruitment process.
