Traffic Police approach IIT, IIM Indore to resolve traffic issues in 15 squares

The department has asked the premier institutions to discuss and resolve the issue of traffic at 15 major squares of the city.

The problem of traffic is on the rise and in order to smoothen it, the Traffic police is now seeking help from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore, SGSITS, and other prominent institutions. The department has asked the premier institutions to discuss and resolve the issue of traffic at 15 major squares of the city.

Initiative to make traffic smoother

The department has approached these institutions through letters. According to media reports, a letter has been sent by DCP (Traffic), Mahesh Chand Jain to these institutions asking them to contribute to their mission of traffic management. The initiative has been taken by the traffic police department is to make sure easy transportation and smooth flow of traffic at usually busy squares.

Institutions will help in traffic engineering for a smoother flow of traffic in the city. Department has chosen the 15 busiest squares including those of Bombay Hospital and Super Corridor.

The list of 15 squares created by IMC includes squares at Niranjanpur, Dewas Naka, Choithram, Rajeev Gandhi, IT Park, Musakhedi, Patnipura, Navlakha, Bombay Hospital, Gopur, Malwa Mill, Bada Ganpati, Super Corridor, Geeta Bhavan, and Bapat

IIM Indore, UP Police sign MoU

Earlier, with an aim to improve law enforcement, enhance beat policing, and traffic and tactical patrolling, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore and Uttar Pradesh Police signed an MoU. The objective behind the collaboration was to explore the means of improving the morale and efficiency of police personnel while reducing stress. On January 21, 2020, the Director of IIM Indore, Professor Himanshu Rai and Director General of Police (DGP), UP, OP Singh signed the MoU.
