Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 outbreak pandemic, several guidelines have been issued by the University Grant Commission or UGC with respect to the academic calendar, examinations, re-opening of institutions.
University Grants Commission (UGC) has urged all the Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to make appropriate decisions regarding the reopening of campuses, conducting classes and examinations in online/offline/blended mode and following the proper COVID-19 appropriate behavior.
As per the official notification, since the outbreak of the COVID-19 outbreak pandemic, several guidelines have been issued by the University Grant Commission or UGC with respect to the academic calendar, examinations, re-opening of institutions. Further, several Standard Operating Procedure or SOPs were issued with regards to the conduct of examination during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the subsequent lockdowns, With regards to this, the commission released several notifications dated on April 29, 2020, July 6, 2020, July 8, 2020, September 29, 2020, November 5, 2020, and July 16, 2021.
"It is once again requested that the HEIs may take appropriate decision with regard to the opening of campuses; conducting classes and examinations in offline/online/blended mode in accordance with the guidelines issued by the UGC and following COVID appropriate Behavior and necessary protocols/guidelines/directions/advisories issued by the Central/State Governments or competent authorities from time to time, in view of the COViD-19 pandemic," the notification added.
The notification issued by the commission in this regard can be checked by stakeholders from ugc.ac.in. Further, it stated that the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has requested as of December 10, 2021, that strict COVID-19 guidelines should be followed by educational institutions. Thus, colleges, universities, and other higher education institutions should be following COVID-19 appropriate behaviour at all times and places.
