Ukraine returned medical students knock at SC's door for their education
Many Indian medical students who returned from Ukraine have now approached the Supreme Court seeking formulation of policy by the Centre to help them in continuing their medical education.
While the Central government had informed the Supreme Court earlier that they are looking into the issue of the continuation of education of Ukraine returned medical students and will make a decision on this, now these students have also knocked on the door of the Supreme Court and sought formulation of policy by Centre as a special measure to enable these students to continue their education in India.
Through the petition, students have also sought the provision of infrastructural support and academic support to continue their education amid the ongoing Russia and Ukraine.
Parents still paying interests to banks
The petition has also stated that their parents had sent them to foreign countries by mortgaging their properties in banks for their children's bright future but now when these students are back and looking at an uncertain future, the parents are still paying interest on the loan amounts for no reason.
"An abrupt disruption to their academic schedule has put their careers in a pile of ambiguity and is in question. The future of the rescued students is in quandary and is completely shattered. Although the lives of such students were secured, the wrecked hopes of the students regarding their future/career continue to aggregate thereby causing distress and fraught in the fragile young minds," stated the plea, as reported by Live Law.
The plea also said that under the present rules, the students have no choice except to recommence their education from level 1 of the respective degree.
