The decision has been taken after the secondary education department gave a digital push by assigning duties to invigilators online

UP Board Exams 2022: Taking another step towards digitalization of the education department, the UP Secondary Education Board (UPSEB) has decided to assign online duties to teachers for evaluation of answer copies, according to TOI. UP Board Class 10 and 12 exams 2022 are all set to conclude today, i.e. April 12. According to the media report, the decision has been taken after the secondary education department gave a digital push by assigning duties to invigilators online. Teachers did face problems initially during the process as it caused some inconvenience and confusion by posting teachers at far-flung centres. However, eventually, the process sailed through by involving proxy teachers.

Attendance to be recorded in real-time basis

The online system comes with a lot many benefits including recording attendance on a real-time basis. โ€œThis way we will come to know the subject-specific shortage of evaluators and can deploy other teachers for timely evaluation of copies,โ€ said an official. The number of copies evaluated by a teacher will also be uploaded daily ensuring fast payment of remuneration to teachers. As of now, teachers mark their presence on an attendance roll and fill the total number of copies evaluated by them on a proforma sent by UPSEB. The sheets are then sent to the office of the district inspector of schools for verification and forwarded to the board.

Evaluation remuneration process to be simplified

Talking about the digitalization of the process, UP Secondary Teachersโ€™ Association Lucknow president RK Trivedi said, โ€œThe teachers get the money for evaluation work after two to three months. In fact, there are several colleges that have not received the remuneration for the evaluation done in 2019. The online system will help in collating the attendance and number of copies evaluated by a teacher in real-time.โ€

The calculation of the remuneration will be simplified, said the Education officials. After this, the board will generate an online bill. A teacher gets INR 10 for evaluating a Class 12 answer copy and INR 8 for a Class 10 copy.
